Kenya’s Maasai Mara Reserve has been named one of the new Seventh Wonders of the World in a poll of experts conducted by ABC Television’s Good Morning America. The incredible annual migration of over a million Wildebeest from the Serengeti plains to the Mara has been described as being one of the most awe inspiring sights on earth, and a broadcast on US morning television took this spectacle into millions of American homes.

Notable game within the lake area is hippo, leopard and of course the diverse bird life. Both black and white rhino are resident in the sanctuary and Rothschild giraffe, buffalo, impala, eland, warthog, Mountain Reedbuck, klipspringers and Black and White Colobus Monkeys are all plentiful.

Day 2  After breakfast at the lodge, you drive via Narok, over the Mau Escarpment and on to the famous Masai Mara National Reserve arriving in time for lunch at Mara Sopa Lodge. Set on the banks of the Mara River, this beautiful lodge offers excellent views of the river with its resident hippos and crocodiles. Enjoy lunch at Mara Sopa Lodge before heading out for an afternoon game drive.

Not only is the Mara blessed with this stunning landscape, but also its animal diversity is one of the greatest in Africa. Surrounded by the grazing lands of the Masai people, the Mara is a sanctuary for all of the Big Five animals: lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and leopard. The sweet grasses and abundant water ensure a full compliment of plains game such as the Impala and Thompsons gazelle. The deep river pools provide homes for hippo and crocodiles.

You will return to the Lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3 Wake up early in the morning to enjoy a game drive before returning for breakfast and a relaxing morning at the Lodge. Enjoy lunch followed by an afternoon game drive.

Day 4 Another full day in Masai Mara game viewing. You have the option to take a hot air balloon safari on this day. Overnight at Sopa Lodge.
